Red – Part 2

The schizophrenic blend of drawing and painting continues on this page. Parts work, other parts do not. Let's break it down, list style!

  • Panel 1: It's fine. Using almost the same POV as the last panel from the previous page was a mistake though. My intention was to keep the monster in silhouette through much of this story. I could have done that and still drawn a scary, intimidating view of the monster towering over its victim. Missed opportunity.

  • Panel 3: Probably my favorite panel in this damn whole story. The shapes, the clarity, the textures... chef's kiss.

  • Panel 4: Snore! Going from my best panel to one of my most boring was a choice... Everything is too vertical. Tilting the entire view or having more diagonal elements would have helped lead the eye to the next, more important panel.

  • Panel 5: Pretty good overall. Red is too airbrushed for the heavily textured page, but the composition works.
