I have mixed feelings about this story that I will elaborate on in a future post. I don't want to spoil things for new readers, so I will comment on what's good and bad as each part comes out. For today's page, let's break it down as a list!
The Good:
- The opening here uses one of my favorite horror tropes - running from danger through the woods. Damn those easy to trip on branches!
- The gray-green rendering really make the patches of red pop, and set the mood nicely.
- I got to draw trees! I particularly like how they are treated as shapes, or silhouettes in panel 2
The Bad:
- More time should have gone into the parts of the artwork. Like the grittiness of panels 2 and 4 are completely missing from panel 1. That wouldn't have been hard to add, and could have been used to give that panel more depth.
- With the prominence of roots in panel 2, it is easy to assume that is what she trips on in panel 3... It was supposed to be a branch, but I should have just made it a root.
- The drawing of Red in panel 4 does what it needs to, but there are some glaring anatomy issues. "cough" Ankles "cough"

Myk
I’ve seen roots like that when I was younger. Certain trees have roots that lie near or on the surface, and having a root grow over something that rots away later will create a hump, just like you drew.
